The Rhein Donau Club Inc. and the Neerlandia Dutch Club are co-hosting a kids movie day and will show the following two great movies, both movies have English subtitles.

The German movie “Der ganz grosse Traum” (The big dream) relates the true story of Konrad Koch, a teacher and football-pioneer.

in 1874, as one of the first English teachers ever, the young Konrad Koch travels from England to Germany to teach English at the Martino Katharineum in Braunschweig. He is confronted with a strict and disciplinary education system that imposes harsh penalties for non-conforming behaviour. Contrary to common opinion, Konrad believes that learning should be fun, so he introduces the students to the new game of football while teaching them vocabulary and grammar centred around the game; a method so revolutionary that it soon meets resistance from parents and teachers alike. The game gets banned but the students devise a scheme to continue to play their game and stand up for their teacher.

The Dutch movie ‘De bief voor de Koning‘ (The Letter for the King)

The story is set in a fantasy world of three kingdoms, and centers on 16-year-old squire Tiuri. When he answers a desperate call for help, he finds himself on a perilous mission that could cost him his life. He must deliver a secret letter to the King who lives across the Great Mountains. Tiuri must abandon his home, break all the rules and leave everything behind – even the knighthood he has dreamed of for so long. The future of the entire realm depends on the letter and Tiuri must trust no one and keep his true identity secret. Above all, he must never reveal what is in the letter.

The Der ganz grosse Traum movie will start at 12:30pm and Brief voor de Koning will start at 3:00pm to about 4:50pm at the Rhein Donau Club, 110 N Lake Rd, Myaree WA 6154.
Movies are free to watch for all.
